The Golden Daughter goes on pre-order

Halina St James

When I sent my final manuscript to my editor a couple of days ago, I thought 'Well done, Halina, you can relax now. After all, The Golden Daughter isn't due to be published until August 5th.

Wrong! An hour later I got an email from my editor. "Thanks for the revisions. Good job. Now can you send the 20 pictures to illustrate the book? And can you check the pre-order pages at the Indigo and Amazon websites?"

Pre-order? Already? It just shows how little I know about the book publishing business. In the past I’ve only self-publishing half a dozen self-help books, and a couple of illustrated adventure stories for the grandkids.

I click on the preorder links and, wow, there's the front cover of The Golden Daughter

I check the text under the picture: "Secret wartime letters, a volatile love triangle, an unmarked grave, a noble heritage—a revelatory mother-daughter memoir about discovery, love, and forgiveness."

I see that I could order a copy right now: Paperback $26.99, Kobo eBook $15.99, Amazon eBook $13.75.

I'm so excited, I'm ready to click the pre-order button myself.

I hope you will check out my book, The Golden Daughter: My Mother's Secret Past as a Ukrainian Slave Worker in Nazi Germany

It's a WW 2 story that’s rarely told. It’s not just about one woman; it's a story that was experienced in some way or another by 5.7 million people. All civilians, forced into slavery by a narcissistic tyrant.

I look at what these slave workers endured, and find parallels to what’s happening in the world today. Some aspects of history must never be repeated - and that best way to ensure that doesn't happen is to be well informed, well read.

If you are interested, you can check out the Indigo site here, and the Amazon site here, or you can click the links on my website.
